UK Modern Slavery Statement
Introduction from Harpal Kumar
At GRAIL, integrity, transparency, and accountability are fundamental to our governance practices. As such, we fully support the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and are committed to ensuring that our practices combat slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chain.
Organisation’s structure
GRAIL Inc. is a healthcare company innovating to solve medicine’s most important challenges. Our team of leading scientists, engineers and clinicians are on a mission to detect cancer early, when it may be more treatable and potentially curable. GRAIL Inc. has approximately 1,000 employees worldwide and operates in the United States and the United Kingdom. GRAIL Inc. includes as a subsidiary GRAIL Bio UK Limited., which is a UK-based legal entity.
Our supply chains
GRAIL’s supply chains include a variety of short and long term relationships with suppliers. We consider our supply chains across direct and indirect goods, services and materials. Direct suppliers include inventory items that go into the processing of our products, and indirect suppliers provide the goods and services needed to run our business.
GRAIL has not received any reported instances of suspected modern slavery, people trafficking, or forced labour during 2024.
Our policies
Our governance practices are designed to ensure that we operate according to high standards of ethical conduct and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing our industry. We regularly review and update our policies, provide ongoing employee training and make our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics available online. All GRAIL personnel are required to follow the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, and ensure that any downstream third-party contractor performing services for or on behalf of GRAIL also follows the Code as applicable.
Through our Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and associated Whistleblower and Non-Retaliation Policy, we ensure that whistleblowers understand their rights, feel comfortable reporting concerns, and are protected from retaliation.
We operate an Ethics and Compliance hotline and require employees to report all suspected violations of GRAIL’s policies or applicable laws, rules or regulations. Reports can be made to supervisors, the Chief Compliance Officer, the Legal Department or the Ethics and Compliance Hotline.
We are committed to implementing a modern slavery policy to ensure that each member of the organisation understands the risks of modern slavery and how to mitigate them from our business and supply chain.
Our effectiveness in combating slavery and human trafficking
GRAIL believes that the risk of slavery, human trafficking, or forced labour occurring in our own business is low. However, we are committed to reviewing and enhancing our due diligence, training, and policies to ensure we are taking appropriate measures.
This statement is made pursuant to the UK’s section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes GRAIL’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending December 31, 2024. It was approved by the board on 28 April 2025.
