Sara Hiom

Sara joined GRAIL in 2020 and brought over 25 years’ experience in cancer research, early diagnosis, cancer screening and policy, having previously spent twenty years at Cancer Research UK. Prior to this, she spent six years in biomedical research at the MRC’s National Institute of Medical Research in London, UK. Sara developed CRUK’s first ‘Early Diagnosis Strategy’ in 2007 and founded the organization’s work with primary care research, developing new funding streams in this area. She was a founding leader of the International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership, exploring the reasons for differences in cancer survival between countries with comparable healthcare systems. Sara has a BSc in genetics from University College London.
